Why is it that when myspace "takes on" security online, they immediately go for the spy solution?

When confronted with a very serious issue such as online safety and predators we have a few choices. We can Educate, we can Eliminate or we can simply Spy.

Myspace, it seems to me, has taken the spyware route to its deeply troubling lack of concern over SPAM and predator use of their Network.

Myspace chief of security online.

"parents can install it on a home computer to see what any MySpace user who logs on from that computer lists as his or her profile name, age and location. It will also track updates made to those profiles"

In a statement, Hemanshu Nigam, MySpace's chief security officer also stated that "one of (MySpace's) goals is to empower parents to engage in conversation with their teens about Internet safety."

I can just see it now: "Hi Son, I'd like to have an honest talk about the fact that I have been spying on you."
