The MySpace Developer Platform (MDP) allows developers to create applications that interact with MySpace members and their social data. With MDP you can create compelling new products that integrate directly into MySpace pages generating worldwide exposure!

Supposedly, the project, called the MySpace Data Availability Initiative, will become available such that any Web site can participate and we can only hope this is not the same as the google launch of OpenSocial which still seems a bit behind the curve.

Now, for myspace, the adoption of OpenSocial is still a big deal.

The fact is that Widget development is in its infancy, and quite frankly, we can't have Facebook owning the standard by which developers create widgets, we must have portability.

For independent or white label social networking companies like Netmodular the initiative is equally important.

It might not be fully baked, but you gotta get behind something in this world!

Three cheers for Open Social!
