Predictions, predictions - everyone has their predictions for this next year, so why not put mine out there?

iPhone and the wave of interface design that is following its success is sure to create a simple yet sophisticated interface experience for Social Networking

After all, I was wrong about everything I told my friends last year, so why not blog about it this year?

First of all, 2008 is the year of the Mobile Network.

Basically, I mean that the iPhone and the wave of interface design that is following its success is sure to create a simple yet sophisticated interface experience for Social Networking, while on the go.

I'm not saying that what Facebook has for their "mobile" version http://m.facebook.com isn't great, I just don't think that's where mobile interfaces are really going. This approach seems to be dumbing-down your current interface such that it fits on a smaller screen.

I think the iPod has awakened us to the fact that a small screen has interface advantages and it has demonstrated new paradigms that are perfect compliments to the web experience.

In other words, don't copy what you do on the web page, embrace a new mobile paradigm that isn't lesser - but rather somewhat different.

I think the mobile Social Network is going to be created with a focused and sophisticated interface experience all its own.

Maybe I've been programming just such a thing in my copious spare time...who knows...
