I read this article in WebGuild about how 93% of Websites are to add Web 2.0 functionality. Click to Open Web Page
But I had to wonder, what's Web 2.0 in their mind?
Seems that the selection was only a few hundred so I'm not sure how scientific this is, but I'm sure it's not entirely inaccurate either.
Web 2.0 features seem to include things like "360-degree spin" and "Zoom" but also have seemingly normal feature ideas like "user-generated visual content"

As I recall, back in the early 1990's websites were "static" and one of the first hard things engineers began to do with websites was to make them dynamic, so they could respond to a search request, or present a web page for a specific user. We called this "Act two" since it seemed Act one was just getting onto the web at all. Since the late 1990's, and after the dot-com crash, it seems like we need a new 'wave' of functionality to be the trend, so everyone says "Web 2.0" and of course we're hearing about Web 3.0 and 4.0 too.
I think of Web 2.0 as basically being the realm of user generated content and interactive publishing. This includes Blogs and Social Networks but also includes pre-dot-com-crash sites like eBay. So, Web 2.0 seems more like a trend to incorporate what did work and learn from what didn't work in the 1990's dot-com boom.
Seems like we're having another such wave, I can't imagine many of the features listed in this article are going to last, or even if they are Web 2.0 worthy.
One thing is for sure, 2008 looks to be mighty interesting indeed!
