Private Equity Hub reports that Yonja Inc., a Turkish online social network, has raised $12.5 million in Series A funding, according to a regulatory filing. This will be used to bring their staff to Silicon Valley The sparse newswire listing also states that backers include Greywolf Capital Partners (http://www.greywolfcapital.com/) and Tiger Global Management. According to a post on tech crunch, The firm is centered in San Francisco and is led by founder and CEO Kerim Baran. Founded in 2003, Yonja claims a billion page views per month and nearly 5 million members. The site seems to be in English, with the exception of some of the advertising and user generated content. |
