According to a recent PEW research report on family friends and community sees the use of social media in teen life expanding.

An amazing 59% of all American teenagers engaging in online content creation and 55% of teens online use social networking.

The use of social media gains a greater foothold in teen life as they embrace the conversational nature of interactive online media.

Teenagers are creating online media content faster than previously expected. Girls dominate blogging with 35% of all teen girls writing blogs, compared with 20% of online boys, whereas boys are dominating video content by nearly twice as much as girls.

The article also highlights the fact that Teens are becoming especially focused on where they post their content and who's viewing or commenting on it.
